Welcome. I am glad you are here.

Whether you are living with endometriosis, supporting someone you love, or caring for patients, you have a place in GEM, and we cordially welcome you.

I have had the privilege of dedicating more than four decades to the care of women living with endometriosis. As a gynecologist, minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon (MIGS), teacher and mentor, I have seen how deeply this disease affects patients and families.

Yet the most enduring lessons have not come from lecture halls or operating rooms, but from the women themselves. Their experiences, courage and perseverance inspired me to establish GEM.

GEM’S MAIN OBJECTIVE

Turn four pillars of systemic change into meaningful action.

  1. Subspecialty Recognition

    Recognize endometriosis as a formal subspecialty, with standardized training and board certification.

  2. Centers of excellence

    Specialized treatment and research centers providing multidisciplinary care.

  3. Surgical Video Documentation

    Make complete, unedited surgical video a permanent part of the patient’s medical record, with informed patient consent.

  4. Education & early diagnosis

    Patient and professional education, earlier recognition and timely referral.

GEM is advancing a unified effort from the United States to turn these four pillars into lasting improvements in endometriosis care. Together, we can urge healthcare leaders, governmental agencies, and policymakers to adopt, implement, and uphold these standards—improving care, reducing suffering, and advancing research.

Patients deserve to be heard and receive guidance. Families deserve understanding and support. Physicians deserve opportunities to share knowledge and improve care. We would be honored to have you beside us.
